/ August 2024

Once again we are delighted to have five highly committed Barchester runners taking part in the AJ Bell Great North Run on Sunday 8th September. Our runners are:

  • Amanda Binns, Nurse, Rivermead care home in Malton, North Yorkshire
  • Amy Benton, Care Assistant, Harton Grange care home in South Shields, South Tyneside
  • Amy Melia, Divisional Sales and Marketing Manager
  • Marius Sidoriuc, Activities Coordinator, Harton Grange care home in South Shields, South Tyneside
  • Rebecca Dearing, Health and Safety Coordinator

Our team is training hard ahead of the event in September – their pre-training includes early morning and evening runs to fit around work, full weekends juggling the training with looking after twin toddlers and continuously increasing the running distances from a couple of miles to the half marathon target.

The runners are hoping to raise £2,400 collectively. Please follow these links to support your runner:

60,000 determined and dedicated runners make the AJ Bell Great North Run the World’s biggest and best half marathon. Famous for its inclusive atmosphere, unbeatable on-route entertainment and warm Geordie welcome, not to mention the millions raised each year for worthy causes, Great North Run magic can be hard to understand – until you’ve experienced it for yourself on the Newcastle to South Shields route.

The Great North Run has always been about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. This year the class of 2024 will follow in the footsteps of 1.3 million runners before them, since it started back in 1981. Each runner inspired by someone, some cause, some moment. Each runner on their own road to greatness.

Good luck to the Barchester team!
