On 7th September, an intrepid team of care home workers from Barchester Healthcare’s Crandon Springs care home in Wells will be tackling the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons.
Sophie Hoskins is normally the General Manager at Crandon Springs, but on 7th September she will be donning her walking boots and leading her team using sheer grit and determination to climb to the top of the 886m summit of the highest point in the Brecon Beacons, in order to raise funds for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.
No strangers to a charity challenge, the team at Crandon Springs has been training hard. If you would like to help them hit their fundraising target of £1,000, please visit their fundraising page where all donations will be gratefully received.
Sophie comments: “We’re all really excited to tackle Pen Y Fan but also very nervous, especially about what the weather might throw at us! I absolutely love walking and taking on challenges like this, we’re hoping to raise lots of money for the Foundation which is a fantastic charity. I know all the staff, residents and relatives at Crandon Springs are behind us plus I have my sister and nephew climbing with me and their support along with all the money we’re raising will help us go the distance!”
Christine, a resident at Crandon Springs adds: “We are all so proud of the team, we know that they will conquer Pen Y Fan, they all have so much determination to succeed. It is a wonderful thing they are doing to raise funds to help vulnerable people combat loneliness and connect with their local communities, everyone at the home is fully behind them.”
