We recently helped fund a Tri Ride wheelchair power add-on for Johnny, 47, from Tyne & Wear.
Johnny has a spinal injury following complications for treatment to a spinal cord tumour in 2023. He is now a wheelchair user and this effects all his activities of daily living , and he has not been able to work since the injury. He lives with his wife and young children, and is trying to maintain as much independence as possible.
The new equipment has provided an important support, and this is the feedback we received from Johnny:
"I cannot express how thankful I am, my wife is now working a full time job, and I’m back in doing school runs, my children are obsessed with the “scooter” and everywhere we go they always ask for a “lift”. I feel like daily activities that I once took as granted and were then taken from me, since I have got this, I am able to go the shop for milk at night, or to go up steep hills around parks without anyone pushing me, and this had such a positive impact in my mental health and in my family life.
Little things like this made my life “normal” again, despite my condition."
