In January this year, we awarded funding to Katy towards the purchase of an electric wheelchair. Katy has had Guillarme Barre Syndrome for most of her life. She also has other severe health conditions, including Sjogren's syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Costocondritis, Psoriatic Arthritis and a heart condition.
Katy needs support with all aspects of daily living. She has two children aged 15 and 21 and Katy said that for years they have not been able to plan family days out as walking is too painful for her. Having her new powered wheelchair has opened up the world to her again. Katy feels that this wheelchair has given her back her freedom and independence.
