Jenna May is General Manager at Barchester’s King’s Park Care Home in Ferndown and can normally be found making sure everything in ship shape at the care home.  However, on Sunday September 1st, Jenna will be stepping out of her comfort zone and donning her trainers to run 13 miles around the streets of London in order to raise funds for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.  Jenna is taking part in the London Big Half, her first ever half marathon.

A keen runner, Jenna loves to take part in Junior Park Run with her four year old daughter who can already do 5km in 15 minutes, Jenna says she is an inspiration!  Jenna’s goal has always been to take part in the London Marathon but she has struggled to get a place so she’s starting off with a half and working her way up to a full marathon.  Jenna is delighted to take part in the race to raise funds for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation which helps older people and those with disabilities stay connected with their local communities.

Speaking about her motivation to do the event, Jenna comments: “I have always wanted to do the London Marathon, now that I am running regularly and building up my distance I thought, why not!  I hope me running the half marathon will inspire others to get out and run, it is so good for clearing your mind – there’s nothing better than getting out into the fresh air. Barchester’s Foundation is such a worthwhile cause and it is a lovely feeling to be able to help out and raise much needed funds.  It is going to be tough to get round 13 miles but the support of everyone here and the thought of all the money I’m raising will help me get over the finish line.

Please visit Jenna’s fundraising page if you would like to make a donation -  all donations will be gratefully received.
