Huge congratulations to our amazing Barchester cyclists Wayne Hughes, Raj Boodhoo and Suzi Gibson who conquered last Sunday’s RideLondon-Essex 100. About 22,500 amateur cyclists took part in this very challenging charity bike ride that looped from central London to Essex. We are very proud of our three Barchester cyclists who successfully completed the 100 miles in glorious sunshine – very impressive!
By all accounts it was a memorable and amazing day. Raj had the advantage of an early start time, which meant he didn’t have the stress of the “sweeper”. Mixed blessing however, as he had to get up at 4AM. Suzi and Wayne had later and more similar start times, with Suzi just slightly ahead. Wayne had to deal with a flat tyre at 80 miles, and Suzi smashed it by upping her previous max of 10 miles to 100 miles in one day.
The photo shows Suzi approaching the finish line on Tower Bridge.
We would like to say a huge thank you to our inspiring cyclists for their tireless fundraising and to everyone who has donated. Collectively our cyclists have raised over £1,600, which will make a very important difference to the people we help.
We are also incredibly grateful to all the North London homes that supported the riders, with inventive fundraising such as hosting a sports day, car wash and car boot sale.
If you would like to make a post-event donation, the cyclists’ donation pages are still open:
