Clare out exploring

Claire, 49, mother of four from Coatbridge near Glasgow has multiple health conditions, which means she is only able to walk for a couple of minutes, before she has to stop due to pain.  She cannot walk any longer distances.

Our grant was for a mobility scooter, and Claire is really positive and enthusiastic about the difference this has made to her. She has visited the Science Centre in Glasgow with 3 of her family, and had a fabulous day as she was able to fully access the whole building and all the exhibits with her family, totally independently. She has been to a local park with her dog and was able take the scooter from her car and was then able to walk her dog around the loch and associated paths.   She is now looking forward to a caravan holiday with the family next year.

A major advantage for Claire is that she’s not relying on others to push her in a wheelchair, as she finds this humiliating. She is enjoying the freedom and independence that the wheelchair is giving her and says: ‘I'm able to do things I haven't done for years!’
