Coach trip to Brighton
/ October 2026In September 2026, Haringey Circle ran a coach trip to Brighton for their members, made possible by our funding contribution. The trip was completed on Thursday 10th September, departing from London early in the morning and returning at around 7pm, allowing members to visit Brighton for around 5 hours.
A member of staff accompanied the members on their trip and acted as the main point of contact on the day. The coach trip also allowed for a raffle on board with prizes donated by volunteers, which included jewellery, hand creams and chocolates.
Members were free to explore Brighton at their own pace. Fish and Chips and seafood at Harry Ramsden's was singled out as a highlight for some, with other members enjoying sharing lunches together and exploring the cafés and eateries in The Lanes and pier. Members strolled along the pier, took in the sea air, relaxed on the beach, but were not quite brave enough to dip their feet in the water.
For some, this was their first trip to the seaside in years, while others experienced the sea for the first time. They enjoyed visiting the Royal Pavilion and surrounding park, explored The Lanes and its shops and enjoyed the local art and souvenir shops too, with many purchasing the infamous Brighton rock.
The feedback that Haringay Circle shared with us shows this trip delivered on exactly what our funding aims to achieve. Members made new friends and felt part of a community, which was great for those living alone. Several members are reported as saying the trip was something they could not have done independently, particularly given the cost of travel and the difficulties traveling alone with chronic conditions.
The members described feeling cheered, relaxed and uplifted by a day by the sea. To wind the day up Haringey Circle received great praise for punctual coaches, comfortable travel, refreshment stops and a raffle that brought the group together with entertainment.
