In December 2021 we awarded funding to Peterborough based charity, Crowland Cares. They provide care and practical support to people of all ages within the parish of Crowland.
They used the grant for a one-off special lunch event. Covid restrictions since March 2020 had prevented them from holding their annual calendar of events. This had such a negative impact on their beneficiaries' loneliness, isolation, mental health and wellbeing. It affected some of the most vulnerable people within their community.
In February 2022 they invited thirty people for a free two course lunch with a choice of sweets, refreshments and tea and coffee. There was a free raffle, and entertainment was provided by a singer who had them all clapping and joining in the fun.
The charity reported that the spirit and confidence of their beneficiaries had been lifted by making new friends and seeing old friends that they hadn't been able to meet up with for a very long time. Comments of the day: "Pleased to go back to some sort of normality" and "My best day in the last two years".
We are so happy that our funding was put to such great use and has helped to make a real difference to the members of this community.
