Hertfordshire based Community Interest Company 'Active in the Community' were the recipients of a funding contribution from us in January this year. Their Forever Cycling East Herts project uses static floor bikes to get older adults more physically active. They project a route onto a screen for the users to follow. This means that older adults can virtually cycle around Paris or Sydney from the comfort of their own community centre.
They reported that the project ran successfully for 12 weeks and were successful in reaching their target demographic. Through completing a session a week, they were able to safely say that they were doubling the physical activity levels of participants.
As a charity whose focus is on improving the lives of the elderly, we were so pleased that our funding contribution helped to do just that.
