Earlier this year we awarded funding to Oakley Rural Day Centre. Their day centre has been open for 25 years providing a service to the elderly in Bedford Borough and surrounding villages. They have a great team of staff providing excellent support to their clients.
Oakley Rural Centre is managed by volunteer trustees. They provide a place for their elderly clients to spend a fun filled day meeting with their friends and taking part in various crafts, activities, quizzes, and games aimed at stimulating the body and mind.
Headway Milton Keynes applied for a grant from us for new exercise equipment, which was successful. Each week they support 50+ brain injury survivors and within a week they host 4 one hour exercise sessions. The group helps individuals to stay active, and re-learn functional skills such as balance, dexterity, etc.
Longford Park Community Centre received a grant from us in June this year. They were set up five years ago in Banbury to provide support and help for members of the local community, who, for a variety of reasons, may have felt isolated or in danger of further deterioration in terms of health and wellbeing.
We recently awarding funding to the Worsley Concert Band., who are a non-auditioned community concert band, which rehearses every Wednesday evening at the Wardley Community Centre in Bolton, Greater Manchester.
In May 2024 we were pleased to award funding to Starling Arts, a female-led community arts group based in Brighton and Hove, who promote the wellbeing of older people by offering free creative activities.
Our funding was used for their weekly creative group and enabling creative sessions to take place, covering the cost of materials, facilitator fees and refreshments.
This New Ground is a participatory arts organisation that provides a platform to elevate the voices & artistic talents of people with learning disabilities in Hammersmith & Fulham.
Our grant was used to run 10 weekly art sessions for adults with learning disabilities at the Creighton Centre in Hammersmith. These sessions were attended by 20+ participants.
Earlier in the year, we awarded funding to Accessible Arts & Media, a small charity based in Chapelfields, York.
Our funding was awarded towards their Movers and Shakers group, a weekly music, movement and social group for adults with complex learning and physical disabilities.
The group delivered 32 one hour sessions between February and June for 35 regular participants with complex needs, who were all supported by their carers.
At the beginning of this year we awarded a grant to The Unity Centre. Established in September 2019, The Unity Centre is based in Lewes, East Sussex and provides wellbeing classes, workshops and therapies for the whole community - regardless of age, disability, financial situation or other barriers.
Back in June we awarded funding to Sage Sheffield, a small local mental health charity based in a deprived area of Sheffield. Their main activities are to provide staffed support through a weekly singing group and twice weekly horticultural therapy based on Grimesthorpe allotments.
In January this year we awarded funding to Aishah Help. They are a charity based in East London, whose mission is to give people hope and serve vulnerable communities in dignified ways. They reach out to those individuals who are in the greatest of need, suffering hardship, are disadvantaged or isolated from society and help them become independent.
