In January this year we awarded funding to Aishah Help. They are a charity based in East London, whose mission is to give people hope and serve vulnerable communities in dignified ways. They reach out to those individuals who are in the greatest of need, suffering hardship, are disadvantaged or isolated from society and help them become independent.

Exercise sessions for a better quality of life

At the beginning of this year we awarded funding to Caring Together in Woodhouse and Little London. They are a charity Neighbourhood Network Scheme based in Leeds. Our grant funded 46 sessions of exercise, which were Pilates and chair based exercises. 

The sessions focused on the tendency for older people to become more isolated during the winter months. It addressed the important issue of maintaining older people’s activity levels during this period.

In June last year, we awarded funding to The Friends of Temple Newsam Park. They are a voluntary group that was formed in 1999. Over the last 22 years they have raised many tens of thousands of pounds to support projects in the park that have improved the facilities for visitors.

Cornerstone Benwell, a community charity based in Newcastle's West End, received funding from us for the purchase of art and cookery items for their friends at The Welcome Project.

Back in November last year, we awarded funding to Arts to Heal. They are an art-based mental health Charity founded in 2016 located on the outskirts of Blackburn.

We funded their "Artful Connections: Nurturing Wellbeing, Combating Loneliness" project. The twelve-week project provided a creative and supportive environment where, in phase one, twenty participants took part in an 8-week exploration of different art materials.

We recently awarded funding to the Straw Patch Project, a Community Interest Company based in Ilfracombe. The funding was used to meet the costs of a lead facilitator for their weekly group of young adults with learning disabilities, who also have profound disabilities that mean they will require care and support for the rest of their lives.

'Motion Unity' for Nuvo Wellbeing

We awarded funding to Nuvo Wellbeing, a Community Interest Company based in Billingham, County Durham. The funds from the grant were allocated across various aspects crucial for the successful implementation of the "Motion Unity: Dancing for Equity" Dance and Wellbeing Sessions for Adults with Learning Disabilities project.

BU Group in Dinnington near Rotherham are very grateful for the new Curling and Boccia sets we recently helped them with.

The group began as a bereavement group, but quickly turned into a social group. They meet every Friday for coffee and a chat, as well as playing games like Curling, Boccia and Darts. 

Day excursion to the River Trent

Day excursion to the River Trent

Funding was awarded to Glinton Friendship Club to enable them to pay for the cost of coach hire to take 33 of their members on a day excursion to the River Trent (see photo).

Glinton Friendship Club aims to promote the welfare, recreation, interests and enjoyment for people over 60 who live in Glinton, near Peterborough and the surrounding villages. 

It was a fabulous opportunity for their members to travel outside the local area, which for many is a rare occasion. On board the cruise they enjoyed a 2 course meal whilst viewing the sights and sounds along the river.

Memories are Golden

Memories are Golden

We awarded funding to the charity Memories are Golden who offer specialised day care services to individuals living with dementia and suffering from heart conditions, diabetes, and other long-term physical conditions.

Our funding was used for the purchase of a scrapbook for every service-user, who love looking through the book and talking about the photographs. Each service-user now has their own scrapbook full of happy memories of days out they have shared and special celebration days including birthdays and Christmas.
