At the end of 2022 we awarded a funding contribution to the Lambeth Asian Centre. They are a not for profit charitable organisation aimed at promoting the welfare, wellbeing, interests, needs and rights of people in the Asian community living in London Borough of Lambeth. The charity helps older people aged 65+ affected by isolation, loneliness and poverty.  

Spectrum Community Arts

Towards the end of last year we awarded funding to Spectrum Community Arts Ltd. They provide top quality performing arts workshops for people with disabilities and additional needs across Central Beds and Milton Keynes. They run evening clubs/groups as well as providing bespoke workshops for other schools and organisations. They keep their group numbers low and energy high in their accessible sessions.

Just before Christmas last year, we awarded funding to Sign and Share Club based in Tenby. Our funding was used to cover the transport costs for four events. 

One event was Christmas dinner at the Giltar Hotel, Tenby. This was attended by twenty two people.

The second was a trip out to the Swansea Grand Theatre in January to see a pantomime with BSL interpretation. This was attended by nineteen people. 

Trip number three was bowling at the Phoenix Bowl in Milford Haven. This took place in February and twenty one people attended.

Earlier in 2022 we awarded funding to Xmas Presence. They are a small volunteer led group who plan a Christmas party every year, which is available to any older person in York and the surrounding areas. 

Petworth Community Garden

In June last year we awarded a funding contribution to Petworth Community Garden. They are a thriving community allotment on a social housing estate, supporting low-income locals to grow organic fruit and vegetables. They work with around 80 disadvantaged locals of all ages and abilities to improve mental health, nutrition and wellbeing through various projects. They have wheelchair accessible paths, raised beds, and a solar activity shed/kitchen.

We are very pleased to have been able to make a funding contribution to Milan Senior Welfare Organisation, who recently won the best charity project of the year award at the Scottish Asian Business Awards.

Our funding was spent on providing transport to and from Milan’s day care provision for older people. Providing transport enables the older people to remain independent and access the amenities delivered by this charity, such as hot meals, activities and informative workshops.

In March this year Beer Men's Shed was awarded our £5,000 Jeanette Gill Bronze Special Award towards the building and equipping of a new workshop.

Jeanette Gill Special Award for Veterans Woodcraft CIC

In March this year Veterans Woodcraft CIC was awarded our £15,000 Jeanette Gill Gold Special Award towards tools and machinery for their woodcraft workshops. Due to their rapid recent growth and the fallout from the Covid pandemic they were seeing a huge increase in the number of people seeking help with their mental health issues and searching for a pathway for reintegration with their local community after spending so long in social isolation.

Dementia Support Hampshire & Isle of Wight

Dementia Support Hampshire & Isle of Wight

In April this year we awarded a funding contribution to Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW. 

They were raising funds to launch support groups providing a safe space for people with dementia, family, or caregivers to access a range of free subsidised and personalised services. These included activities such as counselling, therapies, peer support groups, gentle exercise, and the arts - such as a memory choir, music therapy and social event/entertainment. 

Hurst Bowling Club

Hurst Bowling Club

We were pleased to have had the opportunity to award a funding contribution to Hurst Bowling Club back in March this year. The grant was used for the purchase of three sets of woods (bowls) and three carriers. These woods are, apparently, the smallest adult woods to date. The indent finger holds are suitable for elderly bowlers and for those experiencing a reduction in hand/arm strength.
